Lyme Disease Hacks:

  • ✓ One DOES NOT need a Lyme disease diagnosis to start feeling better.
  • ✓ First is to cut sugar out of the diet. Adults cut alcohol drinks too. If this can't be done, expect the pain to remain. Liquid stevia, honey, maple syrup and dates seem to be okay to consume.
  • ✓ While going sugar free, start removing exposure to chemicals.
  • ✓ Get outside. Aim or 10-20 minutes a day. If heat is tolerated, sunbathe for 5-10 minutes with the least amount of clothing within reason.
  • ✓ After 2 weeks of no sugar, remove wheat, corn and dairy consumption. This unholy trinity can cause big time inflammation. If it's in the budget, thorough labs can be run to see if these are an issue. We would bet that they are.
  • ✓ The above changes mean that restaurants are out too.
  • ✓ The time it takes for positive change to be noticeable varies. Look for random revelations such as, "My headache is gone".
  • ✓ Supplements were rotated in and out. What to take depends on health history and current status.
  • ✓ Forgot to mention our Lyme disease symptoms went away without medication.
  • ✓ Check with your doctor before making health changes.
  • ✓ Results may vary.

Our path to better health came from lowering inflammation and building up the body so it could fight on its own. Killing Lyme and other tickborne infections was not the priority until much later in the process.

Lyme Disease Tips

If not feeling better after making the changes above:

  • ✓ Make sure not to cheat on the diet and check the ingredients of all foods. Consuming foods our body reacts to will not help.
  • ✓ Another issue could be taking too many supplements or the wrong supplements.
  • ✓ Mold could be an issue which is common for those battling Lyme disease.
  • ✓ Consider doing functional labs to reveal hidden stressors. No progress is a sign of other health issues going on that need to be addressed. Ignoring them won't make it better.
  • ✓ There will be ups and downs on everyone's journey but we do not believe increased suffering is a sign someone is getting better.
  • ✓ On our doctor road show back in the day, we would switch to a new practitioner if no progress was made after a year. Thankful for this, otherwise we would still be stuck.
  • We have seen the pain you all go through and it breaks our hearts. While there is no cure, we believe there are things that can be done to feel better.

OUR LYME DISEASE STORY

"Daddy, My headache is gone".

"What?" I said in disbelief. So many things rushing through my mind. All the pain, many years of a non-stop headache along with other health issues that came from Lyme disease, co-infections and other dysfunction. No doctors could help. Even Stanford Medical, one of the best healthcare facilities on the west coast gave up, suggesting massage and ice packs were the only thing that could be done.

Support groups didn't help either. Many of their leaders have been in distress from Lyme for 30+ years. Why would we want to do what they have done to remain sick?

As a parent, the suffering was too much. Sleepless nights, hospital visits, no answers. Health issues starting at age 3, non-stop headache began at age 8. There is much more agony in our story, but you are probably already experiencing it, so no need to go into detail.

The best piece of advice came from our Lyme Literate Medical Doctor who said us parents are in best position to monitor what helps and what doesn't. Therefore I resolved to figure this out myself. Over 8 hours, every day for over 10 years researching, looking for a solution, getting in touch with top doctors around the world.

What took so long? I fell into a trap of being too focused on healing Lyme. Thankfully, a breakthrough came. I believe it was divine intervention. A pivot in our strategy to shift focus on feeling better. I decided if Lyme was going to stick around, let's make the best of it.

"My head does not hurt!", she proclaimed in a proud but weakened voice that refocused my attention to the moment.

The impossible became reality!

Amazingly, some symptoms started to dissipate within a week. Able to walk in a couple of days, no more scooter. Yay!
Joint pain took the longest to disappear, almost a year to be resolved.

There was a time when I wanted to run away from all talk about Lyme disease. It was a short season of burnout. But then I remembered all of the other children who are struggling. I hate to see kids suffer. Therefore, I completed training to become a board certified Holistic Health Practitioner, ready to help your loved one feel better and get their lives back.
